1.0 Background of Sunway Lagoon Theme Park The Sunway Lagoon is a theme park that located in Subang Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. It is established on 17 September 1997 by our fourth Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir bin Mohamad. Sunway Lagoon is also operated by Sunway Lagoon Sendirian Berhad and owned by Sunway Group. Sunway Lagoon theme park has a lot of different theme park inside. For example, Extreme park has activities, skill of game and rides. For Lynton V Harris Scream Park, it is a haunted house which provides the ‘scaring’ experience by using visual effect, audio of actors and some ghost and demon that make-up by live actors. The highlight of this section has got to be Lost City of Gold, an airtime packed mine-train roller coaster. It does not look very impressive from the outside, but the ride is impeccably themed and also quite exciting. The headchopper effect at the second ejector airtime hill is as good as any you get on a B&M winged coaster. However, the lift hill of this ride is really, really slow: 45 seconds to reach a mere 20m height. Worse still, the ride holds you down primarily by a seat belt (the lap bar is loose fitting), so you will literally lift off the seat in the airtime hills. Sunway Lagoon has several flat rides that are by far the most intense rides of the park. Pirates Revenge is a 360 degree pirate ship, which means the ship will rock all the way to the point when it is completely upside down. The other, Tomahawk, is even worse as it spins you head over heels continuously for over a minute.
Besides, Sunway Lagoon has a one of the world’s largest man-made surf beach and was listed in the Malaysia book of records. The other new attraction is WaterPlexx 5D. The park claims it is the first in the world and I must say the quality of 3D images is actually quite decent for Malaysian standards. They also have interactive Wildlife Park and educational zoo, include friendly and small animals, form by reptiles, mammals and birds. In 2016, Sunway Lagoon introduce a new theme attraction name The Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon. This type of attraction expected to attract 2 million visitors to Sunway Lagoon theme park in 2016. The development cost of The Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon is about RM100 million. This is also the first Nickelodeon-themed land in Asia.22.0 Marketing challengesSunway Lagoon is a history company operated in their industry. Nowadays Sunway Lagoon has been facing a lot of marketing challenges. First, many customer complaint about the staff who work at counter. They are slow during their working session. Sunway Lagoon can fixed those problems or attitude by giving the training to make the staff and employee to work systematic and faster. Second, Sunway Lagoon which operated long time ago faced the challenges which is about the old theme park and facilities. In case, Sunway Lagoon opened the new theme ‘Nickelodeon Themed Land’ in Asia. Third, Sunway Lagoon faced the huge problem which is natural phenomena. During raining day, they will decide to stop all activities although there are customers and tourists. Then the customer might unhappy. Sunway Lagoon should post on the weather forecast to remind customer and let them decide either they want to enter the theme park or not.
