Implementing a Supply Chain Management System
Implementing a supply chain management systemNumber: MIS 535Course: Management information SystemsTables of contents Tables of contents Subject of course project Business problem statement Name of the company Brief description of proposed solution General benefits it will provide to organization Audience Subject of course project Supply chain management is a process which is used by organizations to connect between the providers of the raw components that is needed for the production of the goods and services. The network will have to be managed so that there is efficient and reliable provision of the goods and services in the company. There is a need to have software systems that will connect the suppliers to the company. The subject of this course project is to explore the process of implementing a software system for supply chain process for Chocolate Solutions Company. Business problem statement The current problem is that there is lack of interconnection between the suppliers and the procurement department of the company. This makes planning process and the time it takes for goods to be delivered to customers lengthy unnecessarily. Also, there is the lack of quality management process because the supply process is not monitored for quality purposes. In many cases, supply chain process is left to the suppliers, leaving the quality component of the whole process to the mercy of the suppliers. The software that is implemented in the supply chain management can either be cloud or in-house based. Cloud based will enable the company to have connectivity with the suppliers as the suppliers will get access to the supply chain software and connect with the company so that they have a collaboration. In-house software is installed in the company premises and the suppliers will have to be connected to the company network. This might take time to achieve. Name of the company The company that will be assessed in this paper is Chocolate Solutions Inc., a company that deals with manufacture of chocolates. The company is located in the United States. The industry that the company falls in has many suppliers because of the raw materials that have to be connected with the company network. This process will have to be connected and monitored for the process to be reliably managed. Brief description of proposed solution The solution for the management of the supply chain process is to have a cloud-based implementation of the supply chain process. There will be the use of third-party players who will provide cloud services and a web-based supply chain management system will be deployed to the public cloud. The web-based system will then be accessed online. This will mean that the suppliers will also get access to the supply chain management system from their networks.
