Government-Mandated Healthcare
Government-mandated healthcare is the wrong choice for healthcare for Americans because there are some people without jobs who cannot afford the healthcare nor the fines, the government control over the people should be kept to a minimum, and small business are now being forced to provide insurance to their employees which is causing them to spend more money and that could lead to the business closing.
People who do not have jobs cannot afford government-mandated healthcare and the fines that go with it. When the Affordable Care Act goes into effect in 2014 individuals will be fined if they do not provide healthcare for themselves or their family. If you are without a job or if you have a part time job and make less than $9,000.00 then you will not be fined. If you are without work and you and your spouse picked up some part time jobs throughout the year to make ends meet and you both together made $18,800 which is just enough for your family to survive for the year but not enough to pay for health insurance you will be fined in 2014 $95.00 per adult and $47.50 per child. The following year you cannot find a job still and are still having to work part time again the fines you would occur go up to $325.00 per adult and $162.50 per child and also the following year in 2016 they will go up again to $695.00 per adult and $347.50 per child. Now, you will not know that you have been fined this until you file your income taxes and that is when you would pay your fine but do not let this mistake you it is not a yearly fine. This is a monthly fine. Each month you are without healthcare you will be fined until you get it.
Now, when it comes to the Constitution government-mandated healthcare is very unconstitutional. The Supreme Court passed the Affordable Care Act is which constitutional under the strict reading of the Commerce Clause stating that the federal government is granted the authority to make regular the process by which trade between the people of two or more separate states occurs. Just because healthcare exists does not make it and economic activity and does not constitute as trade between people of two or more separate states. It is unconstitutional to force any American to purchase healthcare just because it simply exists. The Supreme Court ruled it constitutional because they are stating that the Commerce Clause grants Congress the ability to regulate economic activity or at very least activities that have substantial effect on economic activities. A federal mandate on insurance regulates existence. How does a human being alive have anything to do with an economic activity? It does not and therefor deems this unconstitutional.
Small businesses are the backbone of America and if these small businesses do not flourish, then America does not flourish. Most of the small businesses cannot afford health insurance
