We conducted a survey in slum areas of Chandigarh ,Janta colony of sector 25.
Our aim was to know if BPL families in Chandigarh were able to get yellow card or not, if not then why not and if yes then what type of difficulties do they face while getting a yellow card. Around 70 interviews were taken in slums of Chandigarh and 57 of them had monthly income less than 400 per capita per month which makes them eligible to get a BPL card. Among the chosen sample space, only 11 % had the BPL card. 72% of the people lacked the provision of Yellow card because of lack of awareness and know-how of the process of obtaining a yellow card.
Along the survey we also spread awareness regarding the Yellow card and how to obtain it.
The study was presented before an audience of 121 people.
