Define Lawn Care’s current strategic mission, strategy, competitive priorities, value chain, and how it wins customers. What are the order qualifiers and winners? Draw the major stages in its value chain without an application service.
Lawn Care’s current strategic mission is to provide the highest-quality grass seed and fertilizer in the world but just delivered to consumers without an application service. The target markets for Lawn Care are upscale facilities such as parks and golf courses. The company’s strategy is to supply the “right product to the right customer at the right time.”

Lawn Care’s competitors offer a hassle free solution to environmental issues of improper applications of their products. The competitors identified that customers would receive a large benefit from the proper application and a hassle free service that could be combined with the sale of the product. Many customers look for the best value for the price.
What problems, if any, do you see with Lawn Care’s current strategy, vision, customer benefit package and value chain design, and pre- and post-services?
Lawn Care’s current strategy is limited. The vision is to provide customers with the “right product at the right time” and the strategy must change to meet clienteles’ needs. Their products are not being applied properly which is resulting in damaged or poor results. Pre-service could be included in the value chain to explain to customers the maintenance require to receive the best result and when the best time would be to apply their product. There are environment issues that must be considered and soil compounds that may need additional steps that non-experts may not know. Post-service could have application services such as re-seeding or maintenance, include training of proper maintenance purchasers, or offer bundling packages.

Lawn Care’s strategy should be more closely aligned with what their competitors are doing.
