The next personality profiles instrument (tool) is MBTI. It seems that MBTI is the most preferred instrument for overcoming absence of trust as per Patrick Lencioni. He called MBTI “The Foundation, tool with greatest validity and reliability”. To recap, MBTI assists team members in engaging in conversations in order for them to better acknowledge the similarities and diversity of their individual types and working styles. Such an understanding is fundamental in overcoming absence of trust. Now, first of all, we will definitely suggest the team leader consider using this tool, because it is him who sets the things that team members follow. The main point of using MBTI is for him to learn about trusting style of every individual. For this, the team leader has to be very self-confident, which, as we observed, was not exactly the case. MBTI is all about individuals, so, we believe it is vital to promote credibility and sharing of personal experiences within the team – the point is to emphasize the uniqueness of each team member. MBTI lays down the “S-N (I)” table outlining various motivational styles and preferences. There will be no absence of trust if all team members have Sensing as their preference. They will feel secure because there is a free flow of information. However, we observed the opposite during the interview – it seems that uncertainty and fear were prevailing among the majority of team members. This was an indicator of Intuition preference dominating Sensing preference. Lack of information made the majority feel ambiguity in interests of others and led to low team engagement and the resultant absence of trust. To eliminate this, we highly recommend to promote a free flow of personal information which will allow team members to feel more secure and gradually increase the trust as well.
