Knowledge is the primary source for any organization. Attaining knowledge from the employees becomes an issue for the organizations. Knowledge which canet be expressed in words is tacit knowledge. Extracting this tacit knowledge from the employees helps the organizations to implement its strategies in a fruitful way, which helps for the overall growth of the organization.
To capture the tacit knowledge for the employees the organization should provide incentives to those who share their views, this helps in boosting the employees to share their opinions. In TPA the knowledge sharing was neither a norm nor incentives were provided to those who shared. TPA should have made a rule such that each and everyone should share their knowledge with the organization. This makes the employees to post the granular level of thoughts which helps the organization to make strategies and make decisions considering each and every problem.
Effective transfer of tacit knowledge generally requires extensive personal contact and trust. It can only be acquired through practical experience in that field. So, the senior and retired employees of the specific field have the required tacit knowledge. To acquire this, the company has to create space for the employee interaction by creating blog for the employees wherein the employees post their problems and suggestions for it are acquired by their seniors who have already personally faced the situation. If not, they suggest the best possible way to deal with the situation that makes the present employees easy to tackle the situation. The technical equipments used by TPA are outdated; they should be replaced with modern equipment such that the knowledge transfer is done effectively.
Reusing the existing knowledge is not always easy because peoples documents have themselves in mind; they dont have others in mind. Sometimes the documents are too general or too specific, so employees dont have an idea how to reuse the information available for their case.
