The Downside of South ParkThe Downside of South ParkSouth Park is a cartoon shown on Comedy Central. It is known to be very vulgar and controversial. This television show is found humorous by most, but it also is offensive to many. Although its older audience is unaffected by the shows humor and vulgarity, the younger viewers can be affected in a negative way. South Park is full of swearing, violence, sexual innuendo, and bad jokes, and often pokes fun at religion and minorities. This show is teaching children that hate is okay and that swearing is acceptable anytime and anywhere.
South Park also gives American families a bad reputation. It portrays lower class families as white trash alcoholics who constantly fight. The Jewish family in the show stereotypes the mother as being uptight, neurotic, and overprotective. Another family consists of a single mother with a son who is considered to be an overweight mommas boy. The family of another one of the main characters is probably the most “normal” with two parents and a son and daughter.
The show has reoccurring themes involving child abuse and neglect, animal sexuality, religion, and the environment. Some of the episodes show the characters being emotionally, physically, and even sexually abused. In early episodes of the show one of the main characters, Stan, has an older sister who is physically abusive to her brother and his friends. Another characters parents are constantly making him overachieve, and at one point in the show even attempted to sell him to Paris Hilton. The character Eric Cartman has been shown on several occasions as a target of attempted or actual sexual abuse. The theme of animal sexuality throughout the show can be rather disturbing. In one episode in particular, Kenny and Cartman are tricked by older boys into manually pleasuring a dog by

This was one of several instances of children being shown being tricked by older boys in an attempt to gain the attention of their older siblings, children in middle age, or even older adults as well. In fact, several of the themes of sexuality throughout the show can be considered child sex:

In the first episode of the series, when they are in the middle of their teens and the series is being broadcast internationally, a new scene occurs between Kenny and Cartman. It is shown that they were part of a gang in a gang. Kenny and Cartman were members of a group called K-12 Boys and Cartman was one of the gang members. Cartman was once a member of several other gangs. On one occasion he told Kenny (during an interview that aired on Fox) that their meeting was done after they were both with the G.M.I.C. and they never broke up. He later said he was thinking of going to meet with Kenny in New York. He later stated that he and Cartman were never interested in meeting, and that they talked about meeting. They had a lot of fun during the meeting but in reality they were only friends of Cartman. They were talking about taking pictures of the place and asking for money as they were getting their hair cut. The picture was taken the day before they were going to meet with the G.M.I.]
In early episodes, a show was airing that featured the characters showing up at a meeting dressed as animals. It was also shown that Cartman and the G.M.I.C. met at a meeting where they were all members of the gang. They discussed how to take pictures of animals.[3]
In addition to the themes of sexual abuse and neglect, the show also includes a theme of the family of a young girl named Lisa or the idea of a cross. This image, in and of itself, can serve as something very bad. In one episode of the show Lisa (a beautiful blonde girl) is introduced with a smile. An animator had planned to use this concept to put the characters into a show with children, but when the animator decided to pull this idea, Lisa was no longer present.[3] In another episode, the line between the family of several shows can
