Terrorism is an activity that is becoming very popular, frequently we watch in the TV news topics related with terrorism. In past years when we heard about terrorism most people thought about situations happening in the Middle East countries, or something far from our country but now terrorism is every were, even in the most powerful countries, at the moment the countries that once were the safe countries now they are the dangerous ones.
Terrorist attacks have shown us the most brutal violence society has ever seen and that’s what terrorism is; terrible and brutal violence with the only propose of terrified the people and add pressure to the government.
Terrorist acts are strategically well planned, every terrorist act usually takes days and even months of preparation, terrorism is not unthinking violence they are very specific with what they want.
In recent years terrorist acts have become more destructive and spectacular. This is because it has turned in the only way to achieve purposes against powerful countries. Terrorism is going to be a very common practice in the coming years, and for the big nations it has turned into the new enemy “the war against terrorism”.
All the terrorist groups are made with different purposes. There are many kinds of terrorist groups depending on what their objectives are and what their common targets are.
National Terrorism is the first classified group. It seeks to form a separate state for their own national group, often by drawing attention to a fight for “national liberation” that they think the world has ignored. Most of these groups are formed because they are in disadvantage to form a regular army and fight a normal war or revolution.
The Religion Terrorism is one of the most violent because most of the terrorist think that dieing in a terrorist act is sacred and holy, so they are willing to do anything. They seek to use violence to further what they see as divinely commanded purposes, often targeting broad categories of foes in an attempt to bring about sweeping changes. Religious terrorists come from many major faiths, as well as from small cults.
State-sponsored terrorism is commonly used by radical states as foreign policy tools. The Abu Nidal Organization is an example of this kind of terrorism. They are supported by political groups because they put pressure in other groups.
Suicide terrorism is the last type of terrorism that we saw in class. These terrorists die in the act. The attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon harnessed modern technology to the age-old tactic of suicide terrorism. Because the hijackers were willing to die, they could turn passenger jets into deadly missiles and inflict mass casualties.
