How many of you here have animals at home? I myself have several dogs at home that I love dearly. Occasionaly, one of them will get sick and the vet will give me a liquid medicine to give them. Now, my dogs will not drink this voluntarily so the vet gives me a little syringe to put in the corner of my dogs mouth to make them swallow it. I feel bad enough forcing my dogs to take something that will help them. I cant imagine trying to force something down their throat to hurt them., which is what scientists do to thousands of animals every day. Today, Im here to convice you that testing on animals for the purpose of humans is wrong, unnecessary and also inaccurate. What I want to talk about over the next couple of minutes is, first, how inacurrate it is. Second, why it is wrong and unnecessary, and, third why it must change. They question on many peoples minds- should animal testing be legal? Yes
. . .There are successful alternatives that have been used many times before such as test tube studies on human tissues and cells. ” Clearly, this shows how even some researchers and scientist know how uneccesary animal testing is, yet, they continue to do it. Testing animals for the sake of humans is wrong, unnecessary, inaccurate and needs to be banned. Animals are evidently different from humans in many ways and an animals response to a drug can be different than a humans. If this is the case, then why are the drugs even experimented with in the first place? With so many misleading factors, I dont understand how anyone can think that these experiments are alright. 95% of drugs passed by animal tests are immediatly discarded as useless or dangerous to humans and 90% of animal test results are discarded as they are inapplicable
I do have hope. I hope that the results of some of these animal testing studies will serve as inspiration in developing new techniques for making animals more sensitive, more capable and less prone to injury. I hope that others will be inspired to experiment with the best methods as well. This is the hope this article has shared and I hope that I can spread the word of this study. Thank you very much for reading my article! __________________ In my opinion it is more important for all scientists to study and test animals than to treat them differently. These data in this article, published in The Journal of the American Medical Association, should be interpreted in light of the growing interest in the natural world and animal testing. This animal testing has led to a more complete understanding of the nature and biology of animals, its effects and its dangers in a number of different aspects such as disease prevention, research, development and safety. In fact, many animal testing reports have pointed out the dangers for animals as we have the animals being used for many other purposes. For example: The results of our field trial comparing rats with humans showed that there were about 90% fewer infections in rats after being placed in a lab (Figure 1) with only 10% of the rats being subjected to this test. This study was conducted within the first three laboratory days before a public test after being given a high doses of the drugs. The two previous animal studies, conducted in the 1950s and 1960s, have shown that when animals are injected with certain compounds such as diclofenac, it decreases their immune system levels and can increase the incidence of disease (Figure 2). The results of this study were also observed when animals were injected with other substances. Our research group (see Figure 3) is the only researcher who has found that even this dose of diclofenac can increase bacterial resistance in humans, particularly as it acts as a therapeutic for wounds (Figure 4). Further studies are necessary here to understand the effects of both these drugs and to understand how these drugs are being used by people and the scientific community. Consequences of Animal Testing This section details several of the deleterious results obtained by using animal testing techniques and how they can have serious ramifications for human health and well-being and the environment as a whole. Animals are more likely than humans to be vaccinated against several infectious diseases and in some cases, the effects may be so severe that their immunity may be weakened. These findings are consistent with previous reports that animal testing has shown that there are few problems in the human mind in relation to humans and animals (Luszczynski 2001).
