Crime CaseEssay Preview: Crime CaseReport this essayOne of the first philosophies followed by corrections is Retribution. This model refers to the thought that if you break the law then you deserve to be punished. The idea is that a person must pay a price for violating societys norms. It is also based on the concept of an “eye for an eye”. Because the theory of retribution is just a way for society to take out its revenge and give the offender just desserts it is not adequate enough to stand alone. Retribution would need to be acknowledged that every punishment a fine, probation or prison has some feature of retribution. Because every punishment, fines to prison in some way reflects retribution, retribution will not fit into the ultimate goal to reduce recidivisms and crime rate. Retribution is just another way for society to get back at a criminal in revenge even though the criminal does deserve it this will not work in keeping corrections population down.
