Background and SettingsBackground and SettingsIn 2001, prior to my military service I worked for a post office as a Distribution Clerk and Flat Sorter Machine Operator. My daily duties involved operating machinery which sorts and distributes letters or flats (magazines, over-sized envelopes). I was also responsible of reading address ZIP Codes and entering codes, using special purpose keyboards. I mostly worked long hours as I load and unload machines as well. There are days that I am required to work in the customer service department which involves interacting with people and offering assistance as required.
In my department, an employee got involved in accident and was diagnosed with a mental disorder as a result of a head injury. This head injury suffered lead him to get very agitated and angry very often. Due to this fact, his employer asked him to take a leave of absence in order to give him enough time for recovery and to prevent complicated health issues in the future. The employee did not however take the news lightly; he was not interested in taking leave for various reasons. One of the reasons is due to the fact that, he will have no other way of earning income; working at the post office was his only source of income for his household. This generated a heated debate on the issue and hence the conflict.
Hannah and her colleagues had made the decision to have a public office in their first year. This situation was taken about 7years ago. However, we decided to pursue a more practical method of working outside of the office: to build public office as a place for all the citizens. We had our own private and managed office within our own building, so we didn’t have to worry about managing the office anymore. Moreover, the new building was fully integrated to our needs: in our own office, our employees were the first group of people who were involved in our business. As time passed, the public office grew out of the office, but we were able to work with the new building to become an office, so we could be sure of our future and give our employees the freedom to take their own decisions.
We have also decided to take our office to more places that will allow us to do the same while also keeping the existing public office as a way to start our own business.
Many things are already under discussion. For example, one is the decision to move into a bigger building, which we hope will help us meet our clients’ needs, also to put many more services and services to other cities. Also we want an option to move into apartments, to have them sell goods within the office space. We also want to start building a park in front of the building, while also saving a lot of space.
Finally, we wanted to improve our relationship with our public servants, so there is a general idea on how better that should be. There are still many areas where improvements could be made even if there is a crisis: the opening up of the National Health Service, the opening up of the state system to everyone in various parts of the country, etc. All of these are going to solve the issues in the future of public service.
What is your ideal future for the public and how far can your work help to make it that way?
Since the beginning of the project, we’ve already set up a task force with staff to work with the residents to design our future. As the project progresses, the projects will grow, and we’ll be able to focus more on this.
What aspects of the project should you be more involved in before starting it?
We need to start designing our future. We will have to take steps to make the project more sustainable by bringing all of our activities into the project and taking it to the city government by the end of 2014. We need to ensure sustainability in our business which is crucial for all citizens.
What will you be doing with your time now?
The time you’ve allocated for these three projects, and how your work will be used to help improve the future will all depend on the number of problems you think you

Part II – How it was arbitratedA third party who was the CEO at the time was brought in to resolve the conflict. The CEO was chosen as it was believed he will be the most ideal person to resolve the issue at stake and the parties agreed to present their respective case to the CEO for arbitration. It was also made clear that, should there be unable to find a common ground to the situation, the arbitrator (CEO) can make a determination and his decision is final (Shachar, M. 2011).
The session was organized with the two parties involved, the arbitrator, and the lawyers of the two sides. This meeting was held in the conference room of the company. The parties involved each presented their case and the reason for the conflict however time was lot allotted for further discussion or to exhaust all possible evidence. The employee was not given the opportunity to strongly argue his case. The arbitration session lasted a little under 20 minutes just enough time to listen to the cause of conflict and then make an award. It appears the CEO already knew exactly the end result before even beginning the arbitration process. The arbitrator made the final decision of asking the employee to take a leave of absence. The arbitrator also concluded by asking the employee to obtain certification from medical officials as to whether he could even return to work in the future taking into consideration his current health conditions. The arbitrator’s logic for this process is to ensure he does not possess any psychological issues which could
