Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776 for the separation of the thirteen colonies. In this he wanted a country with a government that allowed every citizen the ability to exercise of his or hers inalienable rights. The rights of life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. Websters online dictionary defines life as the physical and mental experiences that make up the existence of an individual. As an American Im able to live me life from day to day the way I choose. Political liberty is one of example of Jeffersons legacy. In the United States we have the freedom to choose a leader or law that we want. It has taken many years for everyone to have political liberty. For many centuries woman or African Americans were not allowed to vote.
