Media also influence our culture, our culture change followed by the media that improve very fast. On the other hand, we also have a culture that cannot change even that culture can influence our media improvement. Based on my experience media also change my world and cultures become more digital than a long time ago. Now I read the news by the social media such as twitter and facebook. I think the news update faster than our old cultures that are newspaper and television. In this assignment, we will discuss culture and media that can influence each other. There are many of understanding of the both. Additionally, in this assignment we are not only discuss and understand about media and culture but also about social media improvement because nowadays social media has huge power to changes the world especially media and culture part. In my opinion, culture is about tradition and the way things did customs or shared norms, race, religion, creed behavior. Damen also says in his book that culture that learned and shared humans patterns or models pervade all aspects of human social interaction. According to Georg Simmel, “objective culture is seen as a ‘thing’ and subjective culture as its ‘unique experience’ (Jackson, J. D., Neilsen, G, and Hsu, Yon, 2011, p. 10)”. Culture has a big impact on social media adoption and usage. In measuring culture, this is about specific cultural traits and attitudes. Additionally, based on the business dictionary media means communication channel through which news, education, data or promotional messages were disseminated. In addition, media also has big influenced in our culture that also make a big change of our habit. Additionally, in my opinion media is the tool or platforms that make our life easier. Their friends comment on these photos. This concept seems simple enough, but its use is very different depending on the age of the user. Adults are known to be more mature about what they post and how they interact online. It is more likely that adults would, “Use their profile pictures as a way of casually showing themselves, their family, or possibly a recent trip they took” (USA Today 1).
According to Pew Research, in June of 2010, the average American spent 70 minutes a day listening, watching, or reading up on the news reported by Pew Research (2010). Media is a large part of people nowadays. The media is growing the influence by shaping the values and attitudes of young children. Excessive exposure to media can also promote anti-social behavior, sedentary lifestyles, materialistic values and short attention spans (Githins 1). Entertainment and media usage has become an isolating experience in todays modern families, especially in the daily lives of children. Before we had great advances in technology, children would read, play with educational toys and nonelectric games, play sports and do household chores (Githins 1). The changes in technology have led to changes in how our society is entertain. In this time are not only children who are spending their lives this way, but also adult.
