In today’s society anxiety is very common in many settings. From careers to the stay-at-home mom anxiety is becoming more and more prevalent in many atmospheres. One of these careers includes teaching and how anxiety may affect the classroom. What are the affects of anxiety in the classroom? And does this anxiety extend to the student and their overall experience in the classroom?

One article discussing the aspects of performance for creative teaching and the affects of anxiety, takes a look at both positive and negative anxiety. The article is titled Perspectives on Performance and Anxiety and Their Implications for Creative Teaching. The author clearly states a problem and takes a conceptual and theoretical framework approach to the issue. According to Senyshyn (1999), “This article provides a conceptual framework for understanding both positive and negative anxiety, drawing on perspectives from existential philosophy and an artistic metaphor in musical performance to examine the implications for creative teaching.”

The author does not clearly define a hypothesis; however, he does take a look at both positive and negative anxiety and how to approach the effect of each one. For example, he states that “Kierkegaards predominant concern was for an individual appropriation of a positive anxiety that could benefit all human beings in any given context (Senyshyn, 1999).” The author also clearly states that anxiety has nothing to do with profession or background
