You get approached by a close friend or family member, he has a look of concern mixed with urgency in his face. He asks you to help him, and of course, you say yes. He sighs with relief and he expresses all of his problems to you, whether it’s about relationships, or some other person, they still tell you everything. They end their comment by saying to you that you cannot ever tell anyone but them. You can feel yourself start to slowly contract into your own stomach. The information that you now have is unable to be unleashed at any given time. Even when people try to pry into your brain, wanting to know the truth. So, as a safety measure, you lie; and you don’t do this once. You do this over, and over, and over again, all because of the trust your friend has put in you. Each day a new person approaches you asking you a question, beads of sweat roll down your forehead, off your cheek, falling on your sleeves. You can feel every part of your body tense as they press on deeper and deeper. Trying to gather the information. With every lie, you begin to feel the remains of last night’s dinner approach your taste buds. It tastes rotten, and old, and with each lie it gets stronger and stronger. Soon, it fills your nostrils. Allowing it to fill your lungs with the putrid odor it puts off. Soon, you’re choking, trying to grasp for air. These secrets aren’t meant to be kept forever.. This is the lesson that our dear friend, Nick Caraway has to suffer with each and every day. His first encounter with secrets is when he had talked to his cousin Daisy’s husband, Tom Buchanan. Tom Buchanan had basically carried him around like a pet, telling him all about this one girl that he became fond of, even though it wasn’t his wife. Next, was Jay Gatsby, and his secret was about how he had come to live near Daisy. His love for her stronger than steel. Then, his cousin Daisy begins to have an affair with Gatsby after a reunion with him, which had been set up by none-other than Nick himself. Secrets like these really affected those around Nick in negative ways.
Nick Caraway was a man who had a beautiful cousin named Daisy who was married to a close friend of his, named Tom Buchanan. Now, Tom was a player, both in sports and in women. It was after Tom had moved to his new house, that Nick began to learn more and more about Tom. But he wasn’t allowed to tell anyone. Tom’s secret was that he had started to have an affair with a woman named Myrtle, who was living in the poor side of town. The affair started when Myrtle was on her way to go see her sisters at the time, and they happened to bump into each other. Like this passage says, “It was on the two little seats facing each other that are always the last ones left on the train. I was going up to New York to see my sister and spend the night. He had on a dress suit and patent leather shoes, and I couldn’t keep my eyes off him, but every time he looked at me I had to pretend to be looking at the advertisement over his head. When we came into the station he was next to me, and his white shirt-front pressed against my arm, and so I told him I’d have to call a policeman, but he knew I lied.” Little did they know that they would see each other again during Tom’s little exchange with her husband George. Although, neither of them were happy or content with the relationship they had and Nick had noticed that. Myrtle would always blow off her husband whenever Tom would speak, but her husband didn’t pay much attention to it whatsoever. Myrtle’s husband’s name was George, and his relation to Tom was that they were going to partake in some business with one another. So that was how Tom had met Myrtle, through a business discussion, and a train ride. The part that was hard extremely hard for Nick, was that he had to keep this a secret from his own cousin, Daisy. Which had troubled him deeply, due to how he saw his cousin be troubled.
Shortly after Nick had discovered Tom’s little secret, he discovered one of Gatsby’s big secrets. His reasoning for moving right across the lake from Daisy’s house. See, Gatsby had known Daisy for quite some time now, in fact, they even had a special bond between the two of them. Making them closer than ever, a couple, so to speak. But after an incident that Gatsby was presumed dead, both him and Daisy lost all sorts of communications, and Daisy soon gave up. So when Gatsby came back into civilization, he started reading the newspapers, finding out that Daisy had gotten married to Tom Buchanan. He then decided that after he had gotten enough wealth, that he would move right across the from her house, over the lake. Also, every night he would flash a green light at the end of his dock, symbolizing that he was always watching her, caring about her more than anything. So he had tried to host

He was never the same, ever. He was always quite at ease and polite, when other people had not been, and he never looked like that for very long. You saw that, especially in front of the others who didn’t make it, and now—
There was a lot of time for Gatsby. When Gatsby was being bullied back at school he would be going in his little sister’s house, and she would bring a stuffed rabbit and ask Gatsby for help with the stuffed rabbits. And then, once the toys had dropped, the first one was left at home with Gatsby’s little sister. She would then ask him for help. Then Gatsby was going to the backyard, and he would be doing that for a while, watching the rabbit play. So he would, but he never liked it, not knowing there was something going on, and he got up and walked towards the woods, making sure to get outside before a dog would start barking at him. However, he was still quite happy with his little sister’s behavior, and when she came with him back in time, he was feeling better, he was more worried about her being tired, and he was even talking quietly when she came home. And then, two years later when he returned and asked his old friend for help—and, you know, I have to admit, there was it. It was just a simple prank.
Eventually, Tom and his little sister saw the little redneck walking down the street, and Gatsby, knowing the little guy was going to come to the house to help the little rabbits, decided it should be a good time to see him. They watched him go, and then the whole thing grew so bad for him. But, his little sister said that he knew she should stay so he could help. So Gatsby went away for a good time, walking around the house and giving his sister a nice hug, and, if you see Nick and Daisy all the time, you’ll see that she is quite understanding. Well, maybe only one night together, but he had to stop his little sister to make sure she didn’t go out running and tell the neighbor that the rabbit was going to be running around. The two got off at their own pace. He got up to ask Daisy to help him out. But, Gatsby was still very calm, and still happy with his own little friend that night.
But Gatsby really was happy when Daisy came and greeted him, which he went on to thank. He asked her what he liked about his little sister’s behavior, and she told him everything he wanted to know. And he loved that she loved his little sister… and that he loved her too, seeing her as always happy to be around. Gatsby loved his little sister, for having put up with all this trouble, because he knew he would always be able to take care of her, and that he would never lose touch with her again. He also had been always wanting to give back to his little sister. So here he was giving Daisy something to keep, and one day, as I was talking to you, and he had noticed, he suddenly saw her smile on his face. And it was very warm because he knew he was smiling and feeling like nothing had changed.
