Fur Trade – EthicsWhen I choose the topic of the Fur Industry for my paper and presentation, I had not expected to find out what I did. For whatever the reasons, I was not well informed before my research on the real issues around the Fur Industry. I was expecting to find information on the part of the industry that I was familiar with and had grown up around. The trapping of wild animals, a rather small part of the problem compared to issues around fur farms.

Once I had dug into the topic and familiarized myself with the much larger issue around this topic, I began to quickly change my opinion. I was surprised to learn how little regulation currently exists for this industry, not just around the globe, but here in the United States also. I don’t have any problem with the industry itself as far as harvesting animals for the fur, but I do think there needs to be policies put into place. Most importantly that when these animals are harvested for their fur, the animals are put down in a way that is humane. I don’t feel this industry should treat animals any differently than the agriculture industry that raises and harvest’s animals for food.

The Humane Society of the United States (HSA) believes that the use of wildlife for agriculture is unethical. In 2013, the HSA and the World Wildlife Fund (WNF) held a conference called “A Conversation on Animals and the Global Crisis in Animal Welfare.”

The HSA held a conference called “A Conversation on Animals and the Global Crisis in Animal Welfare.” It was a series of panels and readings about animals, who were raised by a herd and what those animals did to improve them and to feed themselves and their loved ones and the environment. While this is a very different discussion than most discussions on this topic, I felt it was better to discuss how we should look into what happened to the animals we are raising, about what happened to them, and the impact on wildlife. We should be interested in what the environment is doing there.

The HSA has already made changes since this new conference convened. Since the WNF conference it has made a commitment that we should all be on the same page, even on the topic of animal welfare.

The WNF conference was sponsored by the Humane Society of the United States for the purposes of providing awareness that this is not just a matter of ethical issues, but also an issue of policy. The fact that the committee met at its spring meeting for this new conference also raised the opportunity for future debate.

Before we know it, we will hear from some wild critters, people and groups concerned about its effects, how do we prevent it, how we protect our species from further degradation or help animals thrive. It is also important that we get to know and discuss these questions, and that these issues are not ignored or even neglected.

I think we have the right questions to ask because of this conference. We also have the obligation to show these questions to other groups in these affected areas. I think the WNF conference needs to be on a roll now.

We may see a small but growing movement like this. Maybe it is even a movement in an emerging and significant field. Maybe the discussion that is happening is changing and just being heard. It

Once the issue of how to put these animals down is addressed, they should then look at the living conditions for the animals on these farms. When there has been better regulation but in place addressing those two issues, I think the Fur Industry may not be one that is so controversial.

I liked this assignment due to researching a topic and learning more about it that I wasn’t already aware of.The role plays for my presentation seemed different that many of the others that I either participated in or watched. It seemed to me that the two “role players” weren’t that engaged. I am not sure exactly why I feel that way, but that is how it seemed. I am not sure if it was because I was presenting, we had a test later in class,
