English assignment-Analysis
Life is full of conflict
Conflict is a word used for a variety of meanings:
Conflict can be defined as an open clash between two opposing groups (or individuals),
Or a hostile meeting of opposing military forces in the course of a war,
Or a state of opposition between persons or ideas or interests.
Or to go against, as of rules and laws.
These are just a few ways of defining it. Really, it is very difficult to provide a wholly encompassing definition for conflict. The most effective way of stating it I could find was provided by Mastering Human Relations 3rd Edition, by A Falikowski, which provided the definition as
Conflict: a struggle for mastery, a combat to overcome, or active opposition
To understand exactly what conflict is, it helps to look at the different categories it can be placed in.
Types of Conflict
Psychological Conflict (internal conflict)
This type of conflict could be going on inside the person and no one would know ( e.g. instinct may be at odds with values)
This is the type of conflict experienced when two emotions inside you clash, when you are unsure of what you should be doing in response to a situation, or when you act in a way which makes people feel you are experiencing and emotion different to the one you are ( e.g. a depressed person acting happy, a scared person acting brave)
2. Social Conflict (interpersonal conflict)-
This is the type of conflict that is experienced between one group or individual and another group or individual. It is the result of opposing viewpoints, opinions, interests, goals or loyalties.
It can and usually is found in any group in society; between individuals, in schoolyards, in families, in businesses, within social groups, between states or countries, and generally in any circumstance
