Abstract
Job satisfaction portrays an important part of companies and their success. An understanding of job satisfaction for both large and small companies delivers results that are gratifying and successful. The focus of the following study will discuss gender and intrinsic job satisfaction. The data examined will be analyzed and described through measures of central tendency, measures of variability, and charts/graphs.
Introduction
American Intellectual Union (AIU) conducted a sample surevey to promote the importance of job satisfaction The data included nine sections of data. The following report will only examine and analyze Gender and Instrinsic job satisfaction. The sample survey data is based on overall job performances of seventy-four employees. Gender was selected based on the low numbers of females in the workforce. The intrinsic job satisfaction is important because the understanding of why an employee either retireing with the company or moving on to other challenges can be dertermined. Measuring these data sets quantitatively and qualitatively will present outcomes using central tendency as well as the standard deviation. The outcomes will be shown through graphs/charts.
Difference in variable types
Qualitative data and quantitative data are two basic cataegories of data. Non numberical measurements such as gender is qualitative. There is no way to calculate central tendency. You are either male or female. There is no in between. Numerical measurements like job satisfaction is quantitative because you will have enough numbers to calculate an outcome to determine differences. For this report the employees responded by choosing a number between 1 – 10 to identify how satisfied they were with their actual job performance. Since, there are seventy-four individual responses to evaluate and analyze central tendency meaning the numbers provided allow room to answer common questions like; the frequency of the same number, typical values, and the spread of values.
Based on this sample survey there are fourty-seven males and twenty-seven females. No other numerical characteristics are presented so, there is no need to go any further. Qualitative variables measure “discrete characteristics of a group of individuals or objects.” (Board, 2011) In this survey sample the discrete characterisics are the individual and their gender. The researcher will find that 36% of the sample are women and the moajority of the employees are men at 64%. See frequency table below:

Numbers that summarize properties of a set of date is Descriptive Statistics which are the most commonly use in Statistics. (Board, 2011) for example intrinsic job satisfation and the gender were selected for this report. On the scale of 1 to 10, with 1 meaning the least satisfied and 10 the most satisfied job performance each individual chose a number to represent thier personal level of satisfaction. The data presented allows a researcher to focus on the overall job performance of each person. The numbers show that the males job performance is on average at a scale of 5.0 meaning the males are pretty mediocre with their job performances. The females on the other hand showed an average of 4.98 or rounded up is 5.0.
