The United Nations was founded on the 24 October 1945 by a congregation of over 50 countries who determined that a just, fair international peace organization was crucial for the world in which we live. The Emblem of the United Nations represents the organizations philosophy as the Olive branches symbolize peace and the world map depicting the areas of concern to the United Nations in achieving its main purpose, peace and security. The United Nations is set up in a fair and ideal manner consisting of six principal organizations. Each organization deals with diverse aspects of what is needed for a world with equal opportunity for all people.
Peacekeeping is one of the prime tasks of the United Nations. Peacekeeping operations are established by the Security Council, who are primarily responsible for the maintenance of peace and security; the financial aspects of peacekeeping, on the other hand, are considered by the General Assembly.
