The Current healthcare system worldwide is considered the most modern and most advanced medical assistance in the world. Healthcare is a system that should be offered to all human beings for their livelihoods and wellbeing, nevertheless; this system is not used to heal all ailments, but to obtain wealth. As a result, for today’s generation the future of the term healthcare can be seen as no longer in existence. Our generation and many previous generations have had issues with the lack of healthcare but in the future we can see even harsher conditions. To begin with, healthcare within many parts of the world including the United States is in terrible danger because the inflation of costs making it unattainable to the working class individuals without health insurance. This is a major issue with America’s healthcare system because an increasing number of individuals are declining coverage due to its cost. According to the American Federation of Labor, “Nearly 47 million United States residents have no health insurance, and the numbers keep growing” (AFL-CIO, sec. 1). This means that if our generation does not do anything about these frightening statistics more and more people will be dying due to lack of healthcare. In an ideal world one would like to believe that healthcare puts people at ease, knowing that if they were ever in dire need of assistance they would be given it at any cost, sadly this is not the case. For example, Dede, an Indonesian fisherman, at the age of 21 developed an unusual skin disease where he developed warts around his entire body. Unfortunately, he was left for nearly ten years untreated due to his financial condition .Fortunately, the news of his condition spread to the United States when this thoughtful person, Doctor Anthony Gaspari of the University of Maryland School Of Medicine, decided to actually pay some mind to Dede. He came to the conclusion that Dede was suffering from Human papillomavirus which was causing these warts to take over his skin. The doctor also came to the understanding that Dede was suffering from Tuberculosis and Hepatitis B, which was as well untreated due to his financial situation. Doctor Gaspari wanted to start non-invasive chemotherapy infusions and put Dede on a big supply of Vitamin A to help both problems, but he needed to find sponsors. It is ludicrous that the United States, one of the richest countries in the world, could not donate $10,000 for a dying man in a third world country and had to keep the man suffering until they found enough sponsors.
Needless to say, healthcare is not just a product that can be sold or bought. It should be given at any means to save the livelihood of its citizens. It is used in the United states as a way to receive money when if should be available to all its citizens. The United States is known as the country for the people and it should abide by that name. This means the United States’ first responsible should be to help its citizens live a full and healthy life. Our generation is the generation that should make the healthcare system within reach to all. Along with the topic of healthcare, America’s coverage on HIV/AID’s is scarcely disappearing. The rapid increase is HIV and AID’s has left United States turning down some unfortunate individuals. The Insurance plan of Medicaid actually doesn’t even cover individuals with HIV. This is ridiculous because HIV can be treated so it won’t lead to Aid’s and Medicaid does not cover HIV but it does cover Aid’s. This shows that an individual must developed the incurable form of a sickness to be given even treatment. HIV can be treated so it does not lead to Aid’s and our nation has turned down so many individuals striving for treatments on such diseases. If our generation does not do anything about this big epidemic our plans of ever retiring can seem to lose existence. Healthcare for the elderly has changed throughout the years and is still changing. Due to the demands of putting a roof over one’s head, the elderly have been shunned out of the spot light and given if any minimum coverage if ever coming down with any illnesses. Many countries admire, respect and take the up most care of there elderly while the United States makes it hard for them to live a healthy and prosperous life. If we ever plan on retiring we are going to need to have a lot of money saved up to help insure full future health coverage.
