United States – Summary
History At the end of the fifteenth century when Christopher Columbus landed on the continent, the territory is inhabited by indigenous people. Between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, the Spaniards explore Florida and Colorado, and the French settle in Dutch Mississippi.Os founded the colony New Amsterdam, taken in 1664 by the British and renamed New York.

The independence regime of relative autonomy of the 13 British colonies changes between 1764 and 1775, when England raises rates and limited economic activities. The colonies declare war to the metropolis in 1775. On July 4, 1776, it is read in Philadelphia the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America, recognized by the British in 1783.

World power At the end of World War II, the world was divided into two blocks, capitalist, led by the US and the communist, led by the USSR, was the beginning of the Cold War, which lasted from 1945 to 1991. In the late 1970, the USSR could no longer keep up with the economic development of the capitalist bloc, and goes into crisis, weakening the communist bloc. In 1991, the symbol of the Cold War, the Berlin Wall that divided Germany between two political regimes, is overthrown in March the Cold War and the US definition as a world superpower.
