School Is Bad for Children
As stated in the essay “School is Bad for Children” and “School is Out” Holt and Pink think that there are many defects in the United States School systems. They also feel that they are ready for a major makeover. They think that the teachers should differentiate instruction and use different types of learning styles for the curriculum. Students should not just be taught in the boring classroom but maybe outside or at another location other than the school, also, they believe that standardized tests should be done away with. The authors both talk about how traditional schools prevent kids from learning about the real world and life and how life works. I feel that school should be a happy place for children, a place where they look forward to going to each year.
Schooling in the United States (US.) doesnt give students the chance to learn about everyday life through Howard Gardners nine multiple intelligences: (linguistic, logical-mathematical, musical, spatial, bodily kinesthetic, naturalist, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and extential) and because of not using this method it causes them to hate school and learning.
