Well I am trying to persuade you to not be another generation who says that they were the guinea pigs for the next generation. Let us do something to begin to end the corruption within the government, I say begin because we both know this will take much longer than many of us will live. Regardless we need something to change, fast, or our next generation wont be all that it could be. We are allowed to know the truth.
Hannah S. Erdahl “The Freedom of the Press” in The Guardian, June 4, 2003, p. 12
The government likes to enhance or mold the truth. In a whole every government is the exact same, as much as we like to enforce democracy around the world. For example the communist Chinese government hid the Tiananmens square from the world they just simply said that it did not happen, the democratic American government hid the fact that Israeli troops trained the Taliban in Pakistan, guess who trained the Israelis? You guessed it, the good old U.S. of A. Although the government is still trying to hide information, some people who know whats going on are telling peopleeducating the masses. This happened in Iraq, and strictly violates the Geneva conventions (that the US was so keen on being a part of) “A US helicopter gunship involved in a notorious Baghdad incident had previously killed Iraqi insurgents after they tried to surrender. More than 15,000 civilians died in previously unknown incidents. US and UK officials have insisted that no official record of civilian casualties exists but the logs record 66,081 non-combatant deaths out of a total of 109,000 fatalities”. “The Bush administrations lies “justifying” war in Iraq should insult the intelligence and electrify the conscience of the American people and the world community. The fact that the administration has repeatedly exploited the September 11 tragedy and used it to build a case for unjust war is the most offensive lie of all.” Educating the masses is becoming the job of the people because you cannot trust many government establishments.
Let us take an imagination trip shall we? Imagine youre sitting in church with your family one sunny Sunday morning and all of a sudden well equipped military troops walk in the door and say hey we are going to uproot your government, religion and heritage because we think you maybe have WMDs. Personally, I would be pretty scared and I would probably listen to any man who would work to get them out of my country. So if defending my country my religion and my family makes me an “extremist” then so be it. If I was an angry Muslim man with those beliefs
