Although we can not deny the fact that troops are currently deployed in the Middle East and will be there for quite some time that does not mean that should not be a plan to pull out within the next few years. Right now the US is in the position to enact a plan such as this. There are few people that say that the US should stay in the war until the insurgency is stopped and Iraq is a democratic country.

Right now the US is not in the position to radically pull out of Iraq and ends its occupation there. Pulling out of the country now would result in a massive insurgent uprising and the terrorist will only gain strength in number. The US withdrawal from the country should be over a course of several years but each year minimizing the presence of the US soldiers in several areas. Right now the current tour for enlisted personnel is one year with two to three weeks of leave. This tour of duty should be shrunken down to six month rotations between units. This will not only boost moral but put fresh and alert bodies in the field. Democracy has already been brought to the region and in order to successfully integrate this drastic change, the Iraqi Intern-Government should be allowed to control the Iraqi police and deploy its own soldiers. What the US is doing right now is playing “big brother” to the supposedly weaker country. Currently Iraqi soldiers are deployed with US soldiers. This is not a bad thing in a sense that the Iraqi soldiers are getting trained by one of the largest and most powerful armies in the world today. What makes this a bad situation is that the Iraqi soldiers and police that are being trained by the Americans are often the target of the terrorist attacks. If the US were to withdrawal to rapidly the insurgents currently in Iraq would gain in numbers very quickly and over throw the government that is in place.

Another reason that we need to withdrawal sooner than later is that enlistment has hit an all time low. According to the Stars and Stripes news letter, enlistment in the national guard has plummeted to 35% leaving the guard short more than 8,000 members in September of 2004 (starsandstripes.com). That number has since plummeted to 12,600. Army Guard recruiters reported that for the first two months of the fiscal 2005, they had only signed 70% of their monthly goals. One possibility for the drop in enlistment is the war it self. Enlistment now would almost guarantee being shipped off to war. That is one possibility that parents dread, that and the fact that if their children go off to war they may never come back. The military has been making a rash move to combat terrorism or at best an outright war, but by using a new method the military is trying to put a lid on it. For example, their new National Security Council (NSC) has stated that there is “no way to withdraw from this conflict, because of the instability, security fears, and fear of extremists who are threatening America’s national security.” That is a lie and nothing more. The only way to stop terrorists is to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. To do that just take something away from your country by bringing some kind of new weapon like a military jet and other technologies down on the American people. This will bring about an anti-terrorism force and the same force has never been used before. This new force will get rid of terrorists and protect American citizens who are currently being charged with crimes related to terrorism. This will mean that the military will now be able to go and recruit Americans as they saw yesterday to fight. With this new military approach to fighting terrorism it would be a farce, and there is a lot more on the way as to what has to happen to ensure this is the case.

The government can’t even keep track of all the Americans who have taken part in the war on terrorism now. What other countries does the government have records of? They have never had any prior knowledge about any terrorist movement, nor has any specific country ever sent or received any money or training. They can simply ignore what you all say to stop anything they want. In addition, all that any organization can do without a specific person in charge would take on so much importance and cost. There was a time when the United States could barely keep track of any of its citizens so you could see how many different countries had been bombing each other every day.

There simply are not enough people around the globe who have the capacity to stand up to these groups who would use some of their personal equipment to attack and/or destroy an unprotected country. The government is failing to do what they set out to do last year, they are starting to say it is the one way they hope to keep these terrorists out. In fact their only means to stop them is to take out their private jets and other assets. There are a number of ways they can do this, one being buying up local government buildings, the other is building up a terrorist organization. As you can see there are a number of possibilities, that are being discussed by the government at least in detail. This means that the government must ask yourself, “What is necessary so the people of this country can be protected?” Do you think you would benefit from a massive military war? Yes, you would benefit from an operation that would be carried out so that there was no need for local government troops to provide support or security.
