Mediation and Model Article Review
The use of therapeutic model, while in a divorce process or terminating a relationship is for both parties to use the mediator to bring peace between both sides. The mediator remains neutral and tries to find alternative to resolve an emotional break-up. The process of mediation is to find the best way to terminate a relationship or provide assistance for divorce couples, which involves income, children, and assets. The therapeutic mediation process is finding a reasonable solution so couples could agree. The therapeutic mediation goals involve enhances communication, restructuring relationships, resolving problems, and dealing with underlying emotional problems. Therapeutic mediation eliminates couples from finding faults, finger pointing, and placing blame on one person.

The population most appropriate for the therapeutic mediations works best when both sides are searching for a better alternative. Individuals using this model search for a reasonable outcome by discussing and eliminating the blames. The couples should not focus on all-or-nothing or win-win negotiation because this only demonstrates ways for both sides to overpower either side. Some of the weaknesses in this model are no legal advice, unresolved settlement, and a mediator, are not allowed to make someone agree with the other person. Some of the strengths in this model are confidentiality, court appearance, putting children first, maintains the flow of decision making, and saving both sides time.

The stages describe in the model used are
Advocacy by actively promoting shared parenting for meeting the needs of the children needs (Kruk, 2008).
Assessment of parents to determine if the parents are ready to enter into a sharing custody mediations (Kruk, 2008).
Continuing to support and troubleshooting during the implementation of shared parenting plan (Kruk, 2008).
Educational presentations about the divorce and mediations process, children needs, and interests in the divorce process, problem-solving skills, and effective communications skills (Kruk, 2008).

Facilitation of negotiations for the development of individualizing shared parent plan, which outlines specific schedules, living arrangements, responsibilities, and roles (Kruk, 2008).
