The first site I examined was REI.com (www.rei.com). They provide a variety of products and services on a site that is easy to navigate with a navigation menu on the right side of the main page. They also offer sales, seasonally discounted products, and membership offers. In order to purchase a product, one must specify color, size, and quantity of the product desired then add it to a “shopping cart,” which is an “online order form supported by the appropriate software.” Awad
Another site I examined was Cabelas.com. It is a rival company to REI and presents a similar “storefront.” The difference is that Cabelas.com displays their racks as a catalog page of items whereas REI.com presents only a partial layout their items for sale. Both sites and companies have links to different lines of products and services, both have sale and discount item links, and both provide contact information and company information. Cabelas.com offers more lower-end products and few or none of the highest end items. REI also provides a cooperative membership where the customer receives a dividend at the end of the year based on his or her expenditures, whereas Cabelas.com does not.
Cabela.com’s “Book-to-Shop” program is well represented in various industry journals. It provides a similar level of high-end retail services and has over 100,000 pages on “Auctions” page.
Reid’s Roozle Website offers this high end product to purchase for a price at a lower cost. The Roozle website (Reid Online) offers two different “Book-to-Shop” programs, they offer both options, price points of different products and services. They offer a simple pricing structure that offers a reasonable way to purchase items for a low cost. The higher prices provided by the company add to your profit margin. The website also offers a discount from various products, which can be purchased and sold for less. I would say the value of REI’s services and resources is much in evidence in this comparison.

The following links demonstrate a variety of items that I have encountered over a number of years as both a consumer & a site-to-shop guy. I would suggest looking at the previous reviews and you’ll note that most of the “price points” are for a lower cost and many items are available on the same site instead of being available online. These are usually the items below. These items have had an impact on my purchasing decision, I’ve seen the same things happen to someone from Rookies to REI as someone from a similar retailer. Some of the other examples would be the “price points” shown above, the most difficult to get right, to buy an item for less.
