Karli TreanorDr. MitchlerENGL 101 Narrative18 April 2015 My first night on the job was going quite smoothly despite the fact i was more highly strung than usual tonight. Just the first day jitters, I thought to myself. This was my first job as a RN since I graduated. All the staff here at the nursing home were easy to get along with and informative on how things work. One of my fellow nurses told me that some weird things happened here at night time, but I did not believe her. I got really close to one of the nurses, Kristie, she has been working here at Country Court Nursing Center for 4 years now. Kristie and I worked the same floor but on seperte wings. It was time for Kristies break, so I was the only one on the floor besides the patients. I was at the computer doing my patient charting while I heard the all too familiar sound of the call light being pushed. I finished up the chart I was working on and proceeded to answer the light in room 7. The room doors are usually kept open unless we are preforming cares, so finding the door shut was sort of odd in an occupied room. I knocked on the door and got no answer, so I opened the door to find a completely empty room. The bed in the room looked as if it had been layed in. Naturally, I assumed someone was tring to scare the new girl. I turned off the call light and continued my tasks for the night. Thinking about what had happened left me feeling uneasy. Could there actually be a ghost? Maybe it was just some weird electrical malfunction. I wasnt sure, and honestly I didnt want to know. Soon it was time for Kristie and I to take a lunch break. I was afraid to tell her about what had happened last night, for the fear of her thinking I was weird, so I just kept it to myself.
I had noticed it being weirdly cold down where that room was.I thought maybe someone just had their window open. The thought of this place actually being haunted gave me the chills. As someone who doesnt believe in the paranormal, I quickly brushed off the idea. Kristie Came in from lunch and said she had to leave early because of an emergency. We only had 3 hours left in the shift, so I told her I could handle this and to go ahead. As the night progressed I kept hearing groaning sounds coming from the end of the west hallway. On goes the call light for room 7 once again. I knocked on the door and let myself in. In the room I found an frail elderly woman with cotton like hair laying in bed. I asked her what the matter was, and who she was, since I had not seen her before. She told me her name was Violet Ferguson. Violet said she was scared and felt all alone and wanted someone to talk to, so I sat in Violets room and kept her company. Violet was born here is Ohio and has lived at Country Court for 6 years. Violet and I had been talking off and on for the rest of the night. She kept coming back with the same statement that she was having a hard time moving on, but never said what she was trying to move on from. Violet also stated she felt very light headed almost like she was floating. I just assumed it was due to pain medication. Violet finally fell asleep at about 4 am, which ironically, was the end of my shift.
