Aerospace CompanyMission and Vision PaperThe organization and mission and vision statements that will be discussed are from SGT (Stinger Ghaffarian Technologies), Inc. which is an aerospace services company that was founded in 1994 by Harold Stinger and Dr. Kam Ghaffarian. They are headquartered in Greenbelt, Maryland with locations throughout the country and I had the pleasure to work for them for a year before my contract was bought out by a competitor. SGT states that they are dedicated to customer satisfaction and providing high quality support in the areas of Engineering, Science, Project Management and Information Technology.
What is a mission statement? According to our textbook a mission statement answers the question “What is our business?”(David, 2011, p.45) A mission statement is meant for the employees and leaders of the organization. A Mission statement helps to clarify the purpose and primary, measurable objectives of the organization. “A good mission statement allows for the generation and consideration of a range of feasible alternative objectives and strategies without unduly stifling management creativity” (David, 2011 p.49) Mission statements should also have nine key components: “Customers, products or services, Markets, Technology, Concern for Survival, growth and profitability, Philosophy, self-concept, concern for public image, concern for employees”(David, 2011, p. 51)
SGT Mission statement is as follows “To contribute to the success of our partnerships with government and industry through disciplined, reliable, evolutionary Systems Engineering, Technical Management, and Engineering Analysis Processes and Capabilities.” (SGT, 2012) I believe that this is a good mission statement. SGT hits many of the nine key components. They talk about their customers (government) and the products (Evolutionary Systems Engineering, Technical Management, and Engineering Analysis Processes) which are also their market. They leave open the potential for growth within the major fields by not being too specific which leaves growth possibilities. They are displaying their self-concept in the industry by being “disciplined” in their fields of Systems engineering, technical management, and engineering analysis processes and capabilities. By SGT saying “success of our partnerships” and “reliable” they are giving mention to their philosophy, self-concept, and
n. a commitment to their vision of our future and of the great work that we do. The SGT Mission statement also calls for excellence in the critical areas of Engineering, Applied & General Engineering, Technology, Computing in the fields of Energy and Electricity, Biotechnology, Environmental and Societe Generale, Technology & the Arts, Industrial Engineering, Food/Water and Communications. The goal is to promote the progress achieved in various categories.
SGT also has a strong commitment to the next generation of Engineering Technologists, as defined by the Mission statement:
Efficiency and Innovation as We See The goal for SGT is to be more efficient, innovation-based, and to achieve the benefits of an “evolutionary” System. In my view, this will also involve more efficiencies of resources. Â In the case of our main engineering sector, this means using different methods of producing the most highly reliable, competitive, affordable, and effective systems, and in some cases of taking a more holistic approach to their own delivery. In this way SGT is giving the goal of a technological singularity of the highest degree. The aim is for us to be able to become better and more efficient.
We have seen much progress to date in this field thanks to the SGT Mission Statement but as we continue to grow and expand it is difficult to maintain the momentum. Â The Mission statement aims to bring about change. Â Our main goal can be achieved through our technical solutions, software, and innovation, not through the traditional corporate bureaucracy. We can develop our products with less bureaucracy and simplify our services and solutions. As a result we can see greater innovation and more customers. Â It is our goal to have the best experience with each part of the sector. We are building a good business here in Silicon Valley and we are getting better every year.
We are looking forward to meeting the SGT Mission Statement and continuing to build on the progress it has made. SGT is focused on the following areas: – Developing and improving engineering and communications technologies
– Development and improving science and technology
– Building more effective, profitable, and more customer-centric and customer-centric organizations
– Developing and optimizing our business environment through SGC, TASCE, TACES and ICTO
– Improving our research and development efforts through NITA
– Increasing our capacity to deliver products and services to customers and to the public to benefit both the company (from the software and the engineering disciplines) and the customer (through our business solutions)
– Working with and working with local, regional, and international partners
– Implementing key SGC, TASCE, TACES, and ICTO innovations to enhance customer-centric and customer-centric products
– The expansion and promotion of SGC, TASCE, and ICTO to support our expansion in the future to reach an even greater audience
– Engaging our customers in strategic partnerships with other suppliers to help them stay competitive
– Creating efficiencies in their processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the system. The SGT Mission Statement also asks all stakeholders to understand what the public expect from every engineering system. This includes: – what is the biggest change the public expects from a system? – what are the big changes to the customer experience across a large number of systems? – what is the new way to solve the product problem you’re trying to solve or how can you make it better in the next few years? – what do you think of the public response to the SGC and TASCE or other changes to the system as we approach the business model of the company? – What are the advantages of having multiple teams working on a single product?
