You are also responsible for completing a “Water Rich, Water Poor” world map exercise. First print
the handout titled “World_country.pdf” in the Learning Module for Chapter 11 (a link to follow).
Use two different colored pens and choose one color to color in all the water-rich countries (listed
below) and use the other color for the water-poor countries. (Note: these top ten water rich/poor
countries were selected based on a per person water amount not because of that countries
precipitation amount.)
 To assist you in locating the countries you may want to visit the following website.
www.atlapedia.com/online/map_index_pol.htm or Google Earth if you have the software
loaded on your computer. This turns out to be a bit of a geography lesson for many students.
 Water-rich countries: Iceland, Suriname, Guyana, Papau New Guinea, Gabon, Solomon
Islands, Canada, Norway, Panama, Brazil
 Water-poor countries: Kuwait, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Malta, Jordan, Saudi Arabia,
Singapore, Moldavia, Israel, Oman
 Once your coloring is completed you should be able to answer the following question:
 What is the pattern of where water-rich countries are found? What is the pattern of where the
water-poor countries are found? Send a detailed response to these questions by using the
“assignments” tab by the due date listed in the course calendar. Note: you do not need to
send in your colored map to me, just your detailed responses to the pattern questions
