Writing Literacy Narrative
My earliest memory of writing is when my whole class got to write these short stories that would be published. We also illustrated the book. I wrote one of my short stories about a spider that got washed down the gutter by the rain based off “The Itsy Bitsy Spider.” I dont remember who published the book, but it was a hard backed book and the teacher said it was published. We got like 25 copies or something like that.
My freshman year of high school, I took a higher level English class and my teacher was the first one to try to get me to write about more than just sports. Ive always resorted to writing about sport because its what I know best. For the first time, I started to write about more interesting things to other people, and I think I did a good job. I ended up getting a B in the class. My only A in an English class came in my senior year of high school.
Im the commissioner of a fantasy football league, so I have to make sure everyone is always informed on what they need to be. Most of the things I post are information and written in a way that its like Im actually speaking to them. I think most of my writing is a way that is almost like a note to someone. I try to write so that when you read it sounds like it was meant for you to read it. I think I do a good job of getting necessary information out there and understandable.

In my opinion, when you read anything you write, you want it to sound like its coming from you. You dont want it to be perfectly scripted or grammatically correct because thats not how we talk. I won the debate by the way. The class actually stood up and gave me a standing ovation, it was awkward!
My process usually involves some brainstorming, but probably not enough. I like my writing to sound like its coming from me. I also like to read stuff that comes from the writer. You usually just use words spell check as review which probably doesnt cut it.
I enjoy reading non-fiction. I cant seem to be entertained by fiction. I just dont see the point. I like reading news stories, biographies, or anything like that. I can enjoy fiction movies. Maybe Im just too lazy to read.
To me, writing is a way of communication and a way to inform you. I guess its a form of entertainment to, but I dont find it entertaining really. Writing is a way to express your feelings and emotion on paper. Its like talking to yourself, but not in a weird way. If you write something on paper, I think theres a part of you that wants someone to read it even if you didnt intend to have
