A enterprise level business network is constantly evolving and adapting to new technology trends and security threats. An enterprise network offers a wide variety of systems in services. Some of the common services include; email services, file serves, cloud storage, data backup, print servers, VPN capabilities and more. In order to effectively orchestrate all of the different systems and services, requires a comprehensive management server that posses the capability to customized to fit the needs of Riordan manufacturing now and into the future.
The solution chosen to revamp Riordan Manufacturing server operations is Microsoft 2008 R2 server software. Microsoft 2008 R2 has an extensive list of server roles, those include; Active Directory Domain Services, Active Directory Rights Management Services, Active Directory Certificate Service, Active Directory Federation services, Application Server, DHCP Server, DNS Server, Files Services, Hyper-V, Print & Document services, Terminal services, Network Policy and Access services, Web Server (IIS), and Fax server (“Install Windows Server 2008 Server Roles With Server Manager”, 2014).
The server roles that will be deployed in the Riordan Manufacturing Microsoft 2008 R2 build include:
Active Directory Services- is a special purpose database that utilizes a hierarchal approach to user and computer management. AD consists of a series of partitions; domain, schema and configuration. The domain partitions holds users, contacts, groups, organizational units (OU), computers and other objects. The Schema partition is composed of, GPOs, classes and attributes.
Active Directory Federation- Allows single sign on web-authentication to multiple pre-designated websites.
Active Directory Rights Management- Enable options to help safe-guard against
