In week 3 learning team collaborative, we discussed wireless technologies and networks in the work environment. The use of wireless technology in the workplace, especially in public sector, has been increasing at a rapid pace. Wireless can take an organization where no wired technology has taken them before. One of the most effective wireless communication in the workplace is cell phones.

Cellular phones allows you the opportunity to reach employees anywhere, at any time. The advent of advanced cell phones, tablet computers and other high-tech hand-held devices connected to the wireless network has also greatly improved the ability of workers to share information when away from their desks (Kazmeyer, 2015). These devices allow workers to keep up their efficiency on the move. Because of wireless communication, it has become easier for Information Technology departments to install and maintain hardware in large organizations. Networking in the workplace is so much simpler now because now, all it requires is configured repeaters placed to extend the signal throughout the office. There are many advantages of wireless technologies in the workplace. Some of these advantages consist of mobility, flexibility, cost reduction, and productivity. Even with all the advantages of wireless technology in the workplace, there are still some risks as well. Some of these risks consist of getting use to the easy way of doing things, should not depend on technology, and not everyone is updated with technology.

Some of the other things that were discussed is that although cell phones are very useful to the work environment, many companies dont even allow cell phones on-site due to the possibilities of data sharing, and the fact that most phones have cameras as well. The issue with the camera phones is that pictures could be taken of sensitive information, but there are company phones that are allowed to certain key members of the company. This allows management the ability to contact the key managers of key personnel when needed without the fear of them using their own personal phones. Wireless networking does gives the company the ability to have many advantages as a company, and I believe that the use of technology in a company can be really great use within the work environment.
