Q 1: How is HR different in Walt Disney compared to other firms ?
Ans: In the World Disney Company, the HR has a unique and an elaborated employee hiring and training process that made the company quite different from the other firms. Unlike other firms, the WDC had HR as a core department of the company which was not limited to the assessment and hiring of the employees, but the HR span was extended up to employees’ skills development, performance assessment, welfare, career development, etc.
The HR was dedicated to develop inspired leaders and to build a holistic partnership between these leaders and other employees which, in turn benefited customers. The HR defined the leaders’ role as to inspire the culture, to commit to the organizational identity, and to be responsible for holding components together.
The HR successfully established a healthy environment for employees to work within, incorporated with effective communication so as to establish proper exchange of ideas with leaders and with each other. Each employee’s work experience was meant to be innovating and engaging that let each employee feel himself or herself as an integrated and important part of the company. This attitude of the company encouraged the employees to produce the best and most of the ideas using available resources. The motivated employees’ job performance was in turn enhanced resulted in ensuring that all guests had a magical experience- regardless of how the employee was feeling.
