This article describes the pros and cons of uniforms in school. Many experts believe that students who wear school uniforms will do better academically in school. Majority of students are focused on wardrobe and the latest fashion trends that it distracts them from the actual reason of why they are attending school to receive a quality education. Some experts state that mandatory uniform policy will remove these distractions. In addition they also believe uniform set a more serious tone with the school environment that is conducive to learning; Furthermore, it will also help to improve attendance because student spend many hours planning their daily clothing, and that uniform allow students to use this time to sleep or study. Some experts believe that, more than in any other area, school uniform improves the social outcomes in a school environment. Clothing and fashion are often at the root of social conflict. Children are often ridiculed by other children because of the way they dress. Many children use clothing to express themselves and to define themselves. This self-expression and definition leads to the formation of cliques in schools. In addition, another pro of uniforms is the cost. Experts believe that the use of school uniforms is more affordable to families because there is not as much pressure to buy expensive, trendy clothing. Uniforms are very durable, and can be washed easily and frequently. However, some experts believe that the cons outweigh the pro. Some cons to wearing uniforms are, many sociological experts believe that requiring children to wear standardized uniforms suppresses their self expression. And since students can’t express themselves through clothing then they would find other means of expressing themselves. In addition, some experts who believe that the cost of school uniforms is a negative factor believe that it would cost the same or maybe even more than those who believe uniform is a positive influence. Experts also argue the students may not be comfortable wearing uniforms, because different types of clothing fell comfortable to different people. Some children are more comfortable in a specific material or style of clothing.
In my opinion I completely agree with the pros in addition to my own personal experience with wearing uniform. For instance, during my tenure in school, although we all wore uniforms we all felt like individuals, and wearing uniforms not only prepared me for the working
