Websites are created with the purpose of assisting human service workers find various methods and programs for the user and client’s they work with. The website I examined was The State of Alabama, Department of Human Services. The State of Alabama, Department of Human Services is the main state agency in my neighboring area. The agency assists individuals of all ages that are in need of assistance for many reasons. The goal of this website is to grant existing and prospective clients with the resources they are seeking in a well-timed manner. According to (Widener University, © 2012 – 2013) a website can be analyzed four different ways to correctly make sure the information is legitimate and credible. The four different ways are; authority, accuracy, currency, and objectivity. The first step is examining the authority of the website; in examining the authority of the website the site must be understandable and simple to gain access to the name and some type of contact information for the individual or individual in charge of placing the information on the website. On the home page for the State of Alabama, Department of Human Services the name and picture of the Commissioner is listed as well as contact information for the agency. The page also granted access to different links that information about all the services they offer. The website also provided information about the history, mission, vision, and values of the organization. No specific background information was provided about the commissioner’s work ethics or her capabilities. The site contained the address and the phone number of the department and listed the names of different department heads in Human Resources.  The second step is examining the accuracy of the website; accuracy is needed to ensure the information is accurate and that it is the latest information. It is imperative to recognize that any additional information that is added has to be supported with trustworthy resources, and the website is displayed in an orderly and proficient way.  The website for State of Alabama, Department of Human Services is very professional, and organized to make it easy to locate the information needed. Also, there are up to date news links and announcements with reference to the department.
