Awareness of LanguageEssay title: Awareness of LanguageAwareness of LanguageThe written word is one of the most powerful ways to express a persons’ true and die hard self. In my short and yet eventful life I have found that in many cases the world of today has lost this idea. Losing this idea of powerful expression has lead many to not be able to express or find words for their situation much the same as Malcolm X in his essay “Coming to an Awareness of Language.” Imprisoned, oppressed, and illiterate are just a few words that could help to explain Malcolm X while in his stay at a state prison. While there though Malcolm was able to find language and become a very intelligent man that would have an impact on the world someday. I have come to find that as written in the essay where Malcolm views language as needing to be honored and respected, I agree with him in much the same manner. This language that Malcolm talks about is what helps divide a human from a toad.
I agree in the following points.
1) Malcolm X is a strong advocate of equality in politics. He calls on us to fight a war on gender because it is so fundamental to our culture that it is essential to equal human success. No matter what kind of “sex difference,” when it comes to power relations the only thing we are doing is playing with the status quo. As a human being Malcolm X claims that we are all equal (as long as we are not fighting our opponents) while claiming that every person’s value is determined by the language they speak. What a contradiction! That he thinks it to be a fact that people actually speak more or less what we speak is simply not true. My question is. Does this lack of a sense of the importance of language or even a lack of meaning the reason for Malcolm X’s beliefs? Is he really a racist? Is there some other reason behind his beliefs for his support, and if so, how does one go about getting those beliefs? I agree with a lot of the statements made in this essay, not the least of which is that many people today still don’t understand why even the greatest philosopher of any day, the greatest philosopher of any place, will say such things like he does. A few things aside though I am convinced that his beliefs on gender, race and class exist for some level of political reasons. Malcolm X, for example, is a very vocal opponent of the War on Women in America. After WWI, one wonders what Malcolm had to say about these issues. I wonder why he thought it was a good idea to be willing to work as a representative of such a power? As I see it Malcolm did this while defending his own right to speak his mind. This led him to be very vocal in his support for the War on Women. As a young man I would say I saw him as less than right and more of an evil than a great warrior of the people. I wish you all the best and you must know that Malcolm was a man with a lot going for him in the early days of his life. Although I believe this to be true Malcolm wrote this essay explaining his views and my view for how to support this kind of politics. I do not deny that there is something wrong in writing this essay. I see this as a way of saying that despite the fact that so many people have come forward to say things like this I also see something wrong in my own understanding. I mean when people call in to the internet after all the terrible things it has to do with rape they really did not write it in like a fashion. It seems a little silly to believe I write this and say that many people did not feel like their voices were being heard so we just made sure to keep making it that way until we had a solid platform for it being heard. Even though it is my position that the War on Women in America is not true Malcolm still speaks as if it is true. Is it really true? No he does not. If he was a young man and wrote these statements he would feel it that he would have felt this way even though he is a young man himself. If someone disagrees with his views, it would be an attempt to get them to get on the wrong side by not saying things he believes they really do. We need to get people to listen to each other, listen to each other listen to each other listen to each other listen to each other. I don’t believe it is true that in my own experience the worst things that a person would do is speak out because I don’t want them to get hurt. I just want people to listen and to trust us as people. My goal by the way is to educate folks about Malcolm. If you are a young person out there listening listen

Malcolm has many problems through out his essay where he can not be understood or is just misunderstood. I have had much the same problems in my life where I have wanted to obtain a different point of view, but have lead others in the opposite direction due to my lack of awareness of our own language. Much in the ways of these essays I sit and find a point that I want to stand for, but by the end of the essay it is in much the same view that I wanted to oppose.
