Government won’t exist if there are no people to govern and people need to government for them to lead and protect. But, is the government really does their responsibilities to their people? Government should look into the problems that greatly affect their people especially to those in poverty line who cannot afford to seek treatment for their illness. Karnataka government faced a huge challenged on how to make their people have access to affordable healthcare, especially to those who are living in the southern part of it. 56% of the population are labor workforce and engaged in agricultural and related activities. Despite of many hospitals and clinic throughout the state, lot of people were dying because they cannot afford to seek treatment. A variety of low cost health insurance was introduced but many have failed due to lack of commitment, sustainability and coverage. However, one has met with success and is providing a blueprint for future successes in health coverage for the poor. It was the Yashaswini Health Insurance Scheme. The scheme was proposed by Dr. Devi Shetty, a British cardiologist. By paying nominal premiums for six months, members are eligible to take part in the scheme. For the first two years of operation, 85,000 farmers had received medical treatment and 25,000 undergone various kinds of operations. The Yashaswini had met with so much success that the government began plans to allow people to the other district and neighboring state to undergo surgeries.

They should also consider the other areas that needed support of the government to enhance more the state.Alternative Course of ActionsSince the Yashaswini health insurance scheme provides a very affordable and accessible healthcare, they should make updates to its members so that they will know if the members are active or delinquent to eliminate voluntary membership. The government should provide Yashaswini Insurance Scheme data on eligible below poverty line households for updates.The government should also assigned agency that will focus on the health areas as well as other areas needed assistance from the government.RecommendationThe Yashaswini Health Insurance Scheme seen to be the solution of the health problem in Karnataka government in India, and it was successful. Therefore, it is recommended not only in Karnataka but also with other countries that experienced the same situation with Karnataka to replicate and adapt the health insurance scheme to protect and care their people.ConclusionI conclude that it is the duty of the government to protect and care of their people so that people will support the government in their projects. I also conclude that government focus on the lower level community who has a big contribution in the production of goods was definitely treasured and be followed by other countries.I also conclude that Yashaswini health insurance scheme was the best health insurance for the poor people.
