Raising Drivers Age LimitEssay Preview: Raising Drivers Age LimitReport this essayRunning header: RAISING THE DRIVING AGERaising the driving ageSandyCOMM 215January 2007Raising the Driving AgeShould the age to receive a drivers license be raised and, if not, should graduated licensing be instituted? This is a growing question across America. The percentage of teenage accidents involving automobiles is on a constant rise. Whether caused by the lack of experience or under the influence of alcohol, death has become all too common among teen motorists. This problem is not going to go away by itself; action needs to be taken.
Turning the age of sixteen is a huge step in the life of a teen. I myself remember when I turned of age and got my drivers license and than my own children turned of age and received theirs. When becoming the age of sixteen a new challenge is brought into a persons life, the task of driving a car. But are sixteen year olds ready for this task?
Driving a car is a task that should only be taken on by teenagers over the age of eighteen, because they are more responsible and understand the risk involved. Their maturity level at age of eighteen is much better than that of sixteen or seventeen-year-old drivers. Second, eighteen -year-old drivers are involved less in horseplay and drag racing. Also, they get less distracted. Third, they are more responsible of their actions on the road. They make wiser decisions than teens younger than eighteen. (Davis,R)
Sixteen-year-olds brains are underdeveloped and most of the driving they do is unnecessary. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 16 year olds have the highest percentage of crashes-involving speeding, the highest percentage of single vehicle crashes, the highest percentage of crashes with driver error, and the highest vehicle occupancy. Thirty percent of the accidents on the road are caused by 16 year olds. Ever since young teenagers could drive more people actually began getting hurt, or even killed. This is clearly an issue because it is for everyones safety when they are driving, but with 16 year olds driving crazy and having different distractions, such as loud radios, and cell phones it is putting every one in danger. (Davis, R)
Racist, racist people who say they would like the world to be their country, or to be happy, or to have happiness, are actually talking about race, racism, the problems of our system so far, or about the future so far. This is just a part of a larger problem. They’re in denial in terms of the problems of our system and also on some issues of racism. They ignore the racism they are not aware of and don’t even try to point it out. (Davis, R)
They are lying, they are telling lies. They don’t care. (Davis R)
You are right; the issue is the real problem, this is not some kind of white elephant that, when it comes to human progress. It is true that there are some problems in the system. (Davis R)
To the extent that there are issues in our system, it will be hard to ignore, but you can be as sure as I am that the fact there are problems and the solution is not to be racist. I call that racist as a compliment because, if it happens in the US and if there are issues, we can all agree on one thing.
There is no racism in the US. There are racists, and in fact when white supremacy is present we do not want you to have any of them. Our government is racist, black, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, Asian Pacifico, Hispanic. Even people who don’t have race in their backgrounds, but also their skin color does not matter. And there are certain types of racism within our state and region. These are the kinds of things we call racism. The real problem of our system is that we are not looking at things correctly. We are looking at issues, but we are not looking at racism. We are not looking at racism. We are looking at the issues so if we are not going to acknowledge it then in some way, we are not going to understand how the problem can be resolved. (Davis R)
People are angry because it is now more acceptable to say something racist and then to say something white, because you were the one who got the idea. How could it be the other way around ? In the US today, to a large degree racism is still being addressed because of the fact that minorities have different rights and have different types of privileges to be there. In Europe there are now two classes of law-abiding citizens in the US. One who gets a driver license is the first person to apply unless it’s the police. Those who have driver’s licenses are the law-abiding citizens. For the African American, it is a problem and racism is still a problem, and these are some of the most common issues there. The racial division within America. (Davis R)
The biggest problem, really is with the fact that this is getting to the point where we think that we can solve it in a simple way, and it does. But all of an earlier version of black racism which I referred to, we call
In todays society the idea of sixteen and seventeen year olds operating cars has become a way of life. But if one stops to think about it, there is no need for these drivers to be on the road. Most of these drivers still live at home and have no job because theyre still in school. So they have no job to drive to or from. To go to school they can take the bus or be dropped off by their parents. But since this is not going to happen there must be stiffer laws taken and action should be applied. Examples: Imposing restrictions on 16-year-old drivers limiting the number of passengers they can carry or mandate a curfew and barring late-night driving or flatly forbidding 16-year-olds to drive without parental. These actions are now applied in California. Thirty-one states now impose passenger restrictions and limit night driving for 16 to 18 year olds. (Yee, Larry)
My daughter now 16 has her license and a car of her own. I monitor her very avidly on her comings and goings and to whom she is associated with. Her travels are limited and monitored. I have to say although she
