Tupac Amaru Shakur was born June 16, 1971 at New York University Hospital. His name, Tupac Amaru was an Inca name meaning “Shining Serpent” and Shakur meant “Thankful to God”. Tupac had a rough childhood. From the day he was born, things were rough. His mother, Afeni Shakur, was a member of the Black Panther Party. While carrying Tupac, she was arrested in connection to the Black Panther Party for conspiracy to bomb several public places. She was released one month before Tupac’s birth. Tupac grew up in the tough parts of town and did what he could to survive. When Tupac turned twelve years old, decided acting was his calling. He joined the 127th St. Ensemble, a Harlem Theater Group. Soon after, he enrolled in the Baltimore School for Performing Arts. This came to an abrupt end when Tupac, age 17, was forced to leave the school and move to California with his mother. Soon after the move, Tupac began dealing drugs.
Tupac Shakur was born Lesane Parish Crooks in Brooklyn, NY in 1971. While still a small child, his mother changed his name to Tupac Amaru after an Inca Indian revolutionary, “Tupac Amaru”, meaning “Shining Serpant”. “Shakur” means “Thankful To God” in Arabic. By the age of twelve, Tupac had discovered his oves for acting, writing love songs and poetry. As a young teen, his family moved to Baltimore , MD, where he attended The Baltimore School for the Performing Arts studying acting and ballet. e. He graduated in 1980 from the school with a B, „ but as many as thirty years later he was given a second-year B of Law with a G.C.T., as a volunteer, ‟ which was only for a time until 1987. He returned to the Army in 2001 to serve in Iraq. He then went on to receive his M.S., which was transferred to the FBI in 2003. Since 2006, he has served as both a practicing lawyer and public affairs officer in many cities across the United States. We thank the Nation, his friends at C&C, and his former comrades at C&C for their tireless efforts. In addition to his research, Tupac worked on a number of other subjects, including the Middle East/South Africa, Russia, Somalia, Latin America, East Africa, the Middle East-Asia, and South Asian countries. During this time, he also served on C&C/UCB’s Humanities and Conflict Resolution, as well as at several other organizations including the American Geospatial & Military History Association. Tupac’s many tours across the world gave him the unique ability to be heard by the public, to speak with people about issues of national interest, and to educate students about the importance of civil liberties, justice, and humanity. Tupac has been known to share his travels and the experience he received. The many conversations he received on his behalf at C&C also influenced his work on humanitarian issues during the years of civil rights.
